When it comes to phone, cable and internet, there are a few options for consumers.  Whether it is broadband, satellite, cable or modem service, deciding what is right for you is a personal decision.  Shopping around for these services can not only help you save money, but it keeps the market competitive as well.

Our household has always been a cable subscriber, although I know satellite may be a little cheaper.  We also get our internet service though our cable company as it was the best offer with the bundled package.  This year we also added our phone to this service.  Adding the phone, eliminated our phone bill and kept the cable bill the same, due to a bundling promotion they were running.  Calling your cable/ service provider on a regular basis can help you save money as they offer different promotions every month.  I have called several times over the past year and each time they offer me a promotion that is $10 to $15 less than what I’m currently paying.  We also eliminated our premium stations subscription, which added to our savings.

BEFORE

Phone:  $43 + Cable and Internet: $148 = $191 per month

AFTER

Cable (less HBO), Internet and Phone:  $129 per month

Throughout this book, I will remind you when it’s time to call your provider again.
