Week 14 – Buy Annual Passes:  Annual Savings $1133

As I mentioned, we are a family of four with two small children that live in Florida.  We are privileged to live in an area with so much to offer in terms of entertainment and family fun, even though we don’t typically visit the theme parks until friends and family visit.  As anyone who has been to these parks knows, admission is very expensive.  Therefore, we take full advantage of the special savings offered to Florida residents, typically only once a year.  This allows us to save money on the parks we know we will visit.

Disney offers a special rate to visit four times (any park) within a restricted time span.  Luckily for us, this time span also fell within the visits of two families and a friend.  We also spent one time to go with my sister and her family.  Therefore, this calculated to a savings of $503.

We also purchased passes to SeaWorld which allows us to get annual passes for the price of one day’s admission.  We went to SeaWorld 3 times this year, for an annual savings of $567.

We also purchased annual tickets to the local Science Museum.  With changing exhibits each month, it was an entertainment and educational investment for our family.  We visited 2 times this year, for an annual savings of $63.

We also spent time entertaining our children with free activities such as visiting parks and arranging play dates.  I started a monthly “Play Day at the Park” day with my friends, which allowed us some fun time, for free.  Each month I would find a new park or playground in our area and send out an email.  The kids loved it and the adults had some social time together.
