Week 11 - Consignment Sale: Annual Savings $118
My nephew was born premature at 29 weeks. He weighed only 3.9 pounds and spent 10 weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit at the hospital. Premature birth is an epidemic around the world and most of the time, the cause is unknown. My nephew was one of the lucky ones who grew and thrived from the treatment he received during those first critical weeks of his life. The March of Dimes is an organization dedicated to research on finding out why these premature births happen and lifesaving medicines and treatments that have proven to save lives during prenatal care through birth.
Every year my sister, along with many others across the country, raises money for this incredible organization. As part of her philanthropy, she holds children’s consignment sale in her community. I happily donated many items towards her semi-annual sales. During week 11, I sold $118 worth of items. 30% of the sales automatically go towards March of Dimes and I donated an additional $50. As I will discuss later, donations are tax deductable and will save you money!
